Gatwick North Terminal Departure Facilities
The drop off point on Level 2 Departures has access straight into the check-in area.
The Short Term car park is signposted. Access to the terminal is then a short walk across the forecourt.
The Long Term car parks are some distance from the terminal. You will need to allow allow around 15 minutes for transfer. Courtesy buses deposit passengers on the ground level. You can then use the lifts to reach Departures.
If you are dropped off at the South Terminal or have arrived by train or coach then you will need to use the monorail link between South & North terminal. The North terminal can be reached via the transit monorail train link taking approx 2 minutes and running every 3 minutes in peak hours and every 6 minutes at all other times.
The monorail link arrives at the mid-level mezzanine floor. The departures concourse for checking in is upstairs and arrivals is downstairs. There are lifts, stairs and escalators down and up to the other floors.
Check In
The check-in level is split into six zones A - F. Overhead TV monitors at the entry doors guide you to the zone and check-in desks for each airline. The zones are marked by overhead signs and are visible from entry points. Zone A starts at the left of the check-in hall.
Zone A / B is used by Gatwick Handling for A2000, Brit Air and Delta.
Zones C - F is for British Airways and other airlines.
The Domestic Departure gate is in Zone A, International through security at far side of building opposite Zones C / D.
Facilities
Luggage Trolleys: These are plentiful and free. They are available just inside the terminal entry doors in the 'atrium'. Trolleys can sometimes be found in the Short Term car park generally left by passengers arriving in the UK.
Toilets: At each end of the check-in area, between Zones A / B and E / F. Both have disabled facilities and showers, but baby care facilities appear to be in the womens toilet only.
Pay Phones: There are a number of payphones located throughout the check-in area, but generally available near the escalators. Coin, phonecard and credit cards accepted.
Currency Exchange: Two Bureaux de Change. Thomas Cook, open 24 hours, and TTT, open 05:45-22:30, are located on each side of the door to the International Departures security area.
Cash Dispensers: There are no ATMs on the Departures level. The nearest can be found downstairs on mezzanine floor - Barclays, Midland and Nationwide Link provide facilities for most cards.
Information Desk: No information desk in Departures, for the main desk go to the Arrivals area.
Smoking Area: In middle of floor.
Postal Services: Mail box and stamp machine near the door to International Departures opposite TTT Bureau de Change.
Left Luggage: Beside the terminal entry door between Zones D / E. Open 06:00 - 22:00, £2.50 per item up to 12 hours, £4 per 24 hours. Check our baggage storage listing.
